a. In response to the stances and
claims of the littoral states or other states vis-u-vis the South
China Sea, studying and drawing up responsive policy.
b. Actively studying, through appropriate
ways, the prevention and settlement of disputes.
c. Promoting regional cooperation
in the South China Sea.
(3) Safeguard of the security:
a. Studying and analyzing issues
of potential conflict.
b. Enhancing the protection of fisheries
and navigation, and of the security of developmental operations on the sea.
c. Increasing the level of military
alert and standby to defend the islands in the South China sea and to intensify patrol.
